Early days
I’ve always been interested in business. My first was a tennis coaching business I started while studying accounting at university. I grew it to a small team of coaches, but it took me almost another decade to properly make the leap into entrepreneurship.
I started my career in audit at BDO in Melbourne and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. A few years later, I moved to the Gold Coast, mostly because I wanted to spend more time surfing, and eventually left corporate accounting altogether.
2015
In 2015, I founded Bean Ninjas.
We started with $1,000 and built the business from there, eventually growing into an international accounting firm specialising in eCommerce businesses.
I spent six and a half years as CEO. Along the way I learned a lot about building teams, remote work, systems, niching and what it takes to build a business that gives you more freedom rather than less.

2021
At the end of 2021, I stepped out of the CEO role and into a part-time advisory role.
Since then, my work has taken a few different directions.
Now
Today, I’m a co-founder of TeamUp, a recruitment business helping accounting firms hire talented people in the Philippines. I’m also rethinking Bean Ninjas for an AI-first world, with the business now focused on the US and UK.
In Australia, Bean Ninjas entered a strategic partnership with Air Accounting in 2024, and I continue to work with Air on the eCommerce accounting portfolio.
More recently, I’ve become increasingly curious about what AI changes for small businesses and founders.
I’m learning by building things, testing ideas and seeing what actually works. This website is partly a place for me to document that.
I write about building businesses, work and what I’m learning along the way.
Outside of work, life mostly revolves around my young family and getting outdoors. We live near the beach, and I’m happiest when I can fit in some swimming, riding, walking or time by the ocean.
